"40" (The Popmart version) By Jon Ivar Kolstad jonivar@kolstad.no Tune the guitar down 1/2 step (More or less....The Edge sometimes uses a tone higher then 1/2 step) I use: Korg SDD-3000 with 450 ms delay The "~" means: Go from 5th fret to 3th fret. Riff 1: e-----------x b-----------5~3_2_3 g-----------2 d-----------2 a-----------x E-----------x This is Riff 1, the intro riff. But i have no idea how to explain the rythm, or when to hit each strings, so you'll have to listen to the song to get it right, i suppose. There is both strumming and picking in this song. The chorus riff : Riff 2: e-----------x b-----------3~2_3 g-----------2 d-----------4 a-----------5 E-----------x You can barre the entire 2th fret, and play it like sort of a C chord, if you know what i mean. This is roughly all of it........ Here are the lyrics, and when to play the riffs: Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 Riff 2 "I've waited patiently on the Lord.....he inclined and heard my cry........he lifted me up out of the pits......out of the miry clay....." Riff 1 (reapeat all the way until Riff 2) Riff 2 "And i will sing.......sing a new song.......i will sing......sing a new song.........How long.......to sing this song.......how Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 long.....to sing this song......how long......how long.......how long.....how long......must we sing this song......." (Play Riff 1 while waiting for the second verse to start) Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 Riff 2 "He set my feet upon a rock......made my footsteps firm......many will see.....many will see and hear....... Riff 1 (reapeat all the way until Riff 2) Riff 2 "And i will sing.......sing a new song.......i will sing......sing a new song.........How long.......to sing this song.......how Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 Riff 2 Riff 1 long.....to sing this song......how long......how long.......how long.....how long......must we sing this song......." The song fades out with The Edge playing Riff 1, and Bono singing: "How long....", and letting the audience sing along from there....... As the last riff of the song i use this: e-----------x b-----------2 g-----------2 d-----------2 a-----------4 E-----------5 (Strum the riff once, and let the delay fade it out) That is about it, i guess......i'm horrible with tabs......please let me know of any mistakes. Hope you like it....... Thanks!
