Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen Zirilli. Nació en Freehold, New Jersey, EE UU, el 23 de septiembre de 1949 de padre irlandés (Douglas Springsteen) y de madre italiana (Adele Zirilli). Creció en Freehold, Nueva Jersey.

Su inspiración para dedicarse a la música vino cuando vio a Elvis Presley en el Ed Sullivan Show. A la edad de 13 años compró su primera guitarra. A los 16, su madre consiguió un préstamo para comprarle una guitarra Kent que costaba US$ 60, evento que rememoró en su canción "The Wish" (El deseo). En 1965, se convirtió en guitarrista del grupo The Castiles, y luego también asumió el papel de vocalista principal.

Editó su primer disco en 1973, llamado "Greetings from Asbury Park", que vendió apenas 25.000 copias y tuvo poca acogida por la crítica. Su siguiente disco fue "The Wild, the Innocent and the E street Shuffle", editado el mismo año, que tuvo una repercusión mayor. El resto de sus discos, la mayoría, ya son leyenda.







A Bruce Springsteen le acompaña en la mayor parte de sus discos –salvo los discos de la “Trilogía del Cabrero”, Lucky Town y Human Touch, y el de “Remembering the Pogues”, la E-Street Band.

Vuelta con la E-Street Band con su disco más vendedor, y quizás, más comercial. Varias de las canciones de este disco se convierten en clásicos, entre ellos, el archi-famoso Born in the Usa –nunca me gustó demasiado-, Dancing in the dark y No surrender. Prefiero quedarme con Bobby Jean y No surrender. Ah, también tenéis My Hometown que una vez interpretaron los u2.
